The new First Capital Connect franchise has been accused of “blatant profiteering” by passenger groups after banning use of discounted tickets on evening peak services.
The ban, which was presented by FCC as necessary to reduce overcrowding, applies to journeys north from London to destinations outside the capital’s Travelcard area. The company expects that it will result in 20% of cheap ticket holders choosing not to travel, freeing up space on crowded peak...
