Steve Clayton has worked for the passenger transport industry for over 30 years, giving devoted service initially in the public sector at London Transport, and recently as a director of Arriva. In 2005, he moved to become group managing director - corporate affairs for the group, a post he held until his retirement earlier this year. He became President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport in 2005. Since then, he has continued to play an active and vital role in work with ministers and civil servants on such matters as the Local Transport Act 2008, BSOG and concessionary fares.

The judges said: “His colleagues in the wider industry would all say that they have much to thank him for from his years of involvement with CPT as it works with government on behalf of our industry and our passengers.”
