The City of Edinburgh Council has dropped plans to extend the Edinburgh tram scheme to serve part of north Edinburgh.
Phase 1a of the tram network, currently under construction, will see trams run between Leith and Edinburgh Airport via the city centre. Phase 1b would have branched off line 1a at Roseburn and run to Granton.
As part of the negotiations for phase 1a, the infrastructure contractors Bilfinger, Siemens and CAF (BSC) gave an indicative price for phase 1b of £87m.
