HA abandons inquiry into Peak Park road scheme

The Highways Agency this week withdrew from a public inquiry into a controversial new road in the Peak District, the A57/A628 Mottram Tintwistle bypass.

The Agency’s announcement, which delighted opponents of the road, follows the decision of the North West’s political leaders to delay the proposed start of the scheme by four years.
