Councillors in Edinburgh are to proceed with plans to merge Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Tram promoter Transport Initiatives Edinburgh within the next 18 months.
The move will create a single integrated public transport operation that will be responsible for integrating the forthcoming cross-city tram route, which will open in the summer of 2011, into the Lothian Buses network.
