Widening and toll lanes fall by wayside as DfT prioritises managed motorways

The full extent of the DfT’s retreat from motorway widening in favour of hard shoulder running has been spelt out in a new  policy statement, Britain’s transport infrastructure – motorways and major trunk roads. The only motorway widening projects remaining in the roads programme are the two PFI projects on the M25.
