The Climate Change Bill currently passing through Parliament sets, for the first time, targets to reduce the UK’s emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) that are legally binding – cuts of at least 27% (compared with the 1990 levels) are required by 2020 and by 2050 the reduction mandated is 80%.
