Sutton aims to cut matchday car trips

The London Borough of Sutton is trying to cut weekend road traffic by offering gifts to children who walk or cycle to their football matches. Youngsters will receive a sticker each time they walk or cycle to a match and can claim a sports-related prize for every six stickers collected. The scheme, part of the Smarter Travel Sutton travel behaviour change programme, uses an ‘exclusion zone’ around each football ground representing a ten-minute walk from the zone boundary.
