TfL seeks hands on role in managing Southern’s inner London services

Transport for London is drawing up plans to extend its Overground quality standards to Southern’s Metro routes when the new franchise is awarded next year.

Attempting to gain new powers to let Southern’s inner London services as a separate Silverlink Metro-style concession is one option open to TfL. However, alternative tactics are also being devised to enable TfL to control frequency, ticketing, fares and customer service standards across the capital’s rail network.
