UK Coal has been given the go-ahead to redevelop Gascoigne Wood, the transport hub of the former Selby mining complex, into a rail-linked business park.
Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Hazel Blears, who backed the recommendations of a public inquiry inspector, said that "sites of the quality that Gascoigne Wood are rare and the site has the significant potential to support rail-linked manufacture and or distribution."
