Car mode share in capital rises for the first time since the 1990s

The proportion of trips made by private transport in London rose in 2016 for the first time since the 1990s, according to TfL’s annual Travel in London report. The share of trips made by public transport, walking and cycling dropped 0.5 per cent in 2016, from 62.6 per cent to 62.1 per cent. Trips by private transport rose from 36.1 per cent to 36.5 per cent.  The report also reveals a further fall in the average number of daily trips made by Londoners, which are now 16 per cent below...
