Carlyle in talks to buy Arriva

US private equity firm The Carlyle Group has entered exclusive talks to buy Arriva Group from parent company Deutsche Bahn, though the option of a flotation remains on the table, too.

Arriva operates buses, trains and trams in 14 European countries. It has extensive UK bus operations and on rail operates the Northern, Cross Country and Chiltern rail franchises, the London Overground rail concession, and open access rail operator Grand Central.
