It is announced today that Robert Devereux, former permanent secretary of the DfT now at the DWP, is knighted; while Stephen Leonard Gooding, former director-general of roads, traffic and local at the DfT and Clare Mary Moriarty, former rail executive director-general, are rewarded as companions of the British Empire. In addition, Ruth Mary Fagan, a policy adviser on cycling policy at the DfT, was given a British Empire medal.
Local transport officials are also rewarded: Nigel Blacker, head of strategy, enterprise and environment at Cornwall Council and Dana Skelley, director, asset management at TfL, were both recognised for their services to transport with CBEs. The public transport sector was also acknowledged, with Nicola Shaw, chief executive officer of HighSpeed 1, receiving a CBE.
