PTEs study ‘operator of last resort’ for QCs

PTEs interested in implementing bus Quality Contracts are considering appointing an ‘operator of last resort’ who would be brought in to run services if incumbent operators withdraw routes in protest at the prospect of a QC.

The need to have contingency plans has been highlighted by recent comments made by Les Warneford, managing director of Stagecoach UK Bus, about the work of Nexus on plans for Quality Contracts in Tyne and Wear.
