The British Retail Consortium has voiced scepticism over the Government's plan to part-fund London's Crossrail project from a Business Rate Supplement charged on all businesses in the capital with a rateable value of over £50,000. The BRC says research by consultant Oxford Economics suggests the costs to business will far exceed the benefits they gain from Crossrail's construction.
