Retailers doubt Crossrail benefits

The British Retail Consortium has voiced scepticism over the Government's plan to part-fund London's Crossrail project from a Business Rate Supplement charged on all businesses in the capital with a rateable value of over £50,000. The BRC says research by consultant Oxford Economics suggests the costs to business will far exceed the benefits they gain from Crossrail's construction. "We believe that fairer funding solutions should be considered," says the BRC....
