Drivers visiting Bolton for a triathlon event are being warned to beware of fake QR codes posted on parking pay stations.
Bolton Council said the fake codes had been found on pay & display machines around Bolton town centre and urged visitors heading to Bolton Ironman to be vigilant.
The council-run car parks only take payment by cash or through the RingGo app, which does not use QR codes.
The countrerfeit QR codes have directed motorists to fraudulent websites to take payment.
