Northamptonshire County Council is to more than halve its spending on bus services over the next two years as it battles with an “unprecedented” financial challenge.
The council this month issued a section 114 notice under which no new expenditure is permitted, with the exception of safeguarding vulnerable people and statutory services. Northamptonshire is predicting a £21.1m overspend in 2017/18.
