The plan for a garden bridge across the Thames in central London has been abandoned.
The Garden Bridge Trust, the charity established to build and run the bridge, has informed the DfT, Transport for London and the mayor of London, that it is to wind the project up.
The trust said it had no choice but to abandon the project because London mayor Sadiq Khan does not support it. Khan told the trust in April he was unwilling to sign the guarantee for the maintenance costs of the bridge,...
