Network Rail’s board has appointed Rick Haythornthwaite as its new designate chairman; his election will be formally put before members at the company’s annual general meeting in July as a normal election resolution.
The appointment comes after existing chairman Sir Ian McAllister announced, in October last year, that he would step down from the board following this year’s AGM.
