A 2000-tonne boring machine has completed the first tunnel section along the London to Birmingham HS2 route. It emerged after passing under Long Itchington Wood in Warwickshire after 8 months underground, completing one bore of a mile of the 64 miles of two bore tunnelling to be created between London and Manchester. One of ten such boring machines, it will now start work on the second bore.
