The Healthy Streets brand is central to the transport strategy of Transport for London and the capital’s mayor, Sadiq Khan.
The trademark registration has been made by Lucy Saunders, a consultant in public health for TfL and the Greater London Authority. Saunders this week left their employment to run her own consultancy, Healthy Streets Ltd.
Her website says she developed the “Healthy Streets Approach™ and the ten Healthy Streets Indicators™ in 2011”.
Saunders told LTT that even using the term ‘healthy streets’ without capitalising the ‘H’ and the ‘S’ would be a breach of her trademark. “It’s too similar,” she said, likening it to writing Coca-Cola without capital Cs.
