Winning a Nobel Prize brings public esteem, press interest and, apparently a free parking spot. 

That seems to be the experience of Shuji Nakamura, who shared 2014’s physics award for developing a blue light-emitting diode (LED) with fellow Japanese scientists Hiroshi Amano and Isamu Akasaki.
