Local authorities in England are to be given powers to introduce pavement parking restrictions. But the Government has chosen to not pursue a national pavement parking ban.

Five years after a public consultation, the DfT has confirmed that local leaders will be given legal powers to make it easier to restrict pavement parking across wider areas.

The current approach in England sees action often limited to individual streets, and requires lengthy, complex processes.
