The Government’s decision to indefinitely pause the electrification of the Midland Main Line (MML) is because “there isn’t enough money to do everything”, Rail Minister Lord Hendy has told the Transport Committee.

He told MPs: “Some of the decisions that we have had to make in terms of spending choices have been quite hard decisions. You have to recognise that it is the railway outcomes that will contribute to the Government’s aims of economic growth, jobs...
