An order to build 14 five-car class 80X electric or bi-mode trains for FirstGroup’s Lumo service has been agreed with builder Hitachi and rolling stock supplier Angel Trains, with delivery expected

to begin in 2027. Hundreds of jobs have been protected at the train factory in County Durham,following the £500m deal, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said on a visit to the site.
