The current mix of transport policies will fail to bring about the wider system transformation urgently needed in the light of climate change, warns Greg Marsden. Here he summarises the ideas he presented at the Local Transport Summit

COP26 was an opportunity for the UK Government to demonstrate its international credentials in the push to zero carbon economies. In transport, the national leadership which has been evident on bringing forward the phase out dates of internal combustion engine cars and vans was used to leverage a wider international agreement, including on heavy goods vehicles beyond 2040.
