Youth ticket misuse is rife, say Merseyside bus operators

Bus operators are claiming that their revenues have been undermined by Merseytravel’s youth ticket, which is not conditional on showing proof of age. Merseytravel denies there is a significant problem with misuse and says it wants its MyTicket product to be easily available, without forms to complete.

MyTicket was introduced in 2014 for young people aged five to 15. In 2015, the upper age limit was increased to 18. My-Ticket currently costs £2.20 for a day’s unlimited bus...
