New coin celebrates bicycle`s 200 hundred years

 

The bicentenary of the bicycle next year is being celebrated in Germany with the issuing of a €20 Euro coin (£18). Featuring the Laufmaschine, the "running machine" that later started to morph into the bike as we know it. The Laufmaschine – or draisine – was invented by Baron Karl von Drais of Mannheim, Germany, in 1817.
