Ealing Council and Safety Shield Systems have been lauded for an innovative detection system fitted to lorries that warns drivers of a possible collision with cyclists and pedestrians. The partners were among the winners at the Fleet Safety Awards, organised by road safety charity Brake, on 1 October.

They took the award in the Fleet Analysis and Action category for the Cycle Safety Shield system, which uses ‘intelligent’ cameras to filter out inanimate objects, such as bus stops...
