I wonder how many readers laughed on reading “Bristol bus fare review” (LTT 08 Feb).

My job-seeking Spanish friend laughed. She compares bus travel in Spanish cities with the unaffordable Bristol bus fares. She knows that profit for shareholders, not a service for passengers, is what bus operators have to focus on in the UK and does not expect cheaper fares after the six-month review by First. As someone said, the 1985 Transport Act endorsed a Faustian pact between the bus industry...
