Siemens beats Bombardier to supply Thameslink’s new fleet

Siemens has been selected by the Department for Transport as preferred bidder to supply the new fleet of Thameslink trains, beating off a rival bid from Bombardier.

The contract will cover the delivery, maintenance and financing of 1,200 of Siemens new concept Desiro City rolling stock vehicles and the construction and financing of two depots.
