German state rail operator Deutsche Bahn is to conduct a trial run later this month that could pave the way for a future direct rail service between London and Frankfurt.

The move follows the signing of an agreement between DB and the owner of High Speed 1 rail route, plus planned changes to safety regulations in the Channel Tunnel.
