Deutsche Bahn is making preparations for the flotation of Arriva, its pan-European public transport business with operations in 14 countries.
German state-owned DB dropped plans to sell Arriva just before Christmas, apparently after prospective bidders indicated that they were unwilling to meet DB’s hoped-for price. Reports suggest Arriva’s UK pension liabilities and the troubled Northern rail franchise were of concern to bidders.
