West Sussex sees 21% increase in weekday road traffic

West Sussex County Council is pleading with residents to only travel if absolutely essential after traffic counts revealed a 21% in increase in vehicles on its roads.

Traffic counters in the county showed a vastly reduced levels in the first three weeks after nationwide travel restrictions were announced on 23 March.

But last week’s weekday figures (Monday 20 April to Friday 24 April) showed a 21% increase on the previous week.
