Preparation work has begun on a combined cycle/walking route on the A259 between Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. West Sussex County Council says many cyclists did not use the A259 because of the volume and speed of traffic, as well as the number of heavy goods vehicles.
The £2m scheme will feature a three-metre wide cycleway and footway on the 2.7-mile stretch of road between the two towns. The scheme will include new and improved crossing facilities along the route.
