Construction of a 2km extension to Midland Metro in central Birmingham can proceed after the DfT approved the release of £59.8m to the project.
The £149m scheme will extend the Wolverhampton-Birmingham light rail line from its terminus close to New Street station to Five Ways in Edgbaston on the western edge of the city centre.
