Rail services return to the heart of the Scottish Borders this weekend with the re-opening of the railway from Edinburgh to Galashiels and Tweedbank.
The Borders Railway revives services over a 30-mile section of the ‘Waverley route’ between Edinburgh and Carlisle, which was closed in 1969.
Services commence on Sunday and the Queen will visit the line on Wednesday 9 September, travelling on a steam-hauled special train.
