Minister promises fares change as tickets go up by over 4% on average

Transport minister Norman Baker has promised the DfT's fares and ticketing review will simplify the fare structure and improve value-for-money for passengers.

Baker said the review was examining the balance of regulation and which fares are regulated. Approximately 40% of fares are regulated by the government. The other 60% are unregulated and decided by the train companies themselves, he said.
