To ensure the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) becomes a widespread reality, the UK needs to focus on improving the accessibility and convenience of public charging. A key part of this will be the introduction of an open payment infrastructure for paying for electric vehicle charging.

To this end, the UK Government has launched a Consultation, The consumer experience at public chargepoints, which runs until 10 April 2021.

As the number of public charge points increases dramatically in the coming years, EV drivers will expect to pay for their charge as they do for petrol – with bank or credit cards, smartphone wallets, QR codes or web payment solutions, with no subscription or signup required.

This webinar is a call to action to industry stakeholders – join us in a discussion about the future for EV open payment frameworks:

• exploring the new public payment solutions that will make secure and open payment systems a reality
• an overview of EV charging and payment use cases
• discussion on the considerations and benefits of open payments for EV charging
• emerging standards and technologies enabling convenient, secure payments
• fleet charging options: home deliveries, utilities, services, ride-hailing, ride-sharing and car-sharing
• enhanced collaboration between fleet operations and local authorities
• integration with parking solutions
