School Streets are transforming the school run — improving air quality, cutting congestion, and making walking and cycling to school safer and more enjoyable for thousands of children and families.
Now returning for its fourth annual edition, and once again hosted by Lambeth Council, School Streets South 2026 is the UK’s only conference in the South of England dedicated entirely to School Streets policy, delivery, and innovation.
Each year the event brings together more than 200 local authority officers, campaigners, teachers, engineers, and active travel professionals to share lessons, showcase progress, and shape the future of safer, healthier journeys to school.
The 2026 conference will highlight the latest developments from Active Travel England and the Department for Transport, alongside new research, case studies, and practical advice for authorities implementing and expanding School Street programmes.
