Looking to improve the road safety and air quality in your community? Implement your Part 6 powers now!
With tranche 3 applications due to receive their powers in early 2024, and many local authorities in tranche 1 and tranche 2 already awarded powers but yet to enforce, Marston Holdings and Landor Links have teamed up to host a webinar on the implementation of moving traffic schemes.
The webinar will focus on the recent schemes introduced by Wokingham Borough Council, including banned turns and yellow box junctions. The Council began drafting their designation order just eight weeks before the tranche 2 deadline. After their Part 6 powers were granted, they were still able to design, implement and enforce the schemes quickly and efficiently with lessons learnt on the way.
Given the importance of data to demonstrate your success, the air quality lead and expert, Nick Ruxton-Boyle from Vortex, will be on hand to give insight into how data from air quality monitors can drive future decision-making and what impact traffic reduction schemes have on air quality in the local community.
The webinar will cover the importance of back-office processing services required to enforce moving traffic, including Penalty Charge Notices, clip reviews, and contact centre support; whilst also reviewing the need and benefits of using resilience services to support the handling of contraventions.
Oxfordshire County Council was part of the first tranche for moving traffic enforcement powers; they implemented multiple School Streets schemes to address traffic congestion issues, improve road safety and promote healthier travel options. Whilst School Streets have become popular amongst London authorities in recent years, we will conclude the webinar examining the benefits camera technology brings to schemes outside London, including those implemented in Oxfordshire.
