Jon has worked at Transport for London for the past 12 years and played a leading role in shaping London’s cycling revolution.  He is currently responsible for delivering TfL’s Bus Priority Programme to improve bus journey times across the capital

Last year Transport for London began a trial to make all bus lanes on the Transport for London Road Network operate 24/7. 

• The trial was part of the London Streetscape Programme response to the COVID-19 pandemic to encourage active travel and alleviate pressure on London’s roads and on public transport which was operating at reduced capacity and with a significant proportion of bus drivers shielding or off work.  
• The objectives were to support bus journey times and reliability, help social distancing on buses and at stops, and reduce potential exposure to the virus; whilst also reflecting a customer shift away from peak hours.
• Delivered via an experimental traffic order and through temporary signs, the trial is now reaching its conclusion, monitoring various data sources to determine it’s success and to explore lessons learnt.
