The Landor LINKS LIVE team is proud to present the expert-led Traffic + Parking Webinar Series.

Clearer Roads, Cleaner Air

Measures and solutions to keep lockdown's cleaner air after the pandemic

The lockdown imposed on the UK during the pandemic saw a dramatic fall in vehicle traffic in towns and cities, which led to a major reduction in vehicle emissions and a significant improvement in air quality. With social distancing requirements reducing the carrying capacity of public transport, and frequently restricting roadspace in town and city centres, central and local government have worked hard to encourage cycling and walking.

However, road vehicle traffic levels are rising as people return to the use of cars for commuting, shopping and school runs. There is a very real chance that improvements in air quality could be lost unless traffic and parking management measures are put in place to lock those changes in.

This webinar looks at how we can keep improvements in air quality after the pandemic.

The session will address issues such as:

  • How tangible have air quality improvements been?
  • How quickly is traffic related air pollution returning to pre-lockdown levels?
  • What is happening to the planned Clean Air Zones (CAZs)
  • Can emissions-based and net zero parking tariffs change driver behaviour
  • How can people be enticed to walk, cycle or use greener vehicles?
  • Would levers, such as dynamic pricing for parking help, if there is a second wave?

The session will feature contributions from:

  • Local authorities
  • Academics and consultants
  • Technologists

Panelists include:

  • Dave Pye, managing parking & air quality projects for London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames and Southend Borough Council

  • Peter O'Driscoll, Managing Director, RingGo

  • John Siraut, Director Economics, Jacobs
  • Lewis Wray, Director Intelligent Transport, WSP (chair)

This webinar is being presented in partnership with RingGo.
