More than half the country’s population lives in small towns, rural areas, or suburban fringes. This webinar will explore how we can bring transport innovation to residents, workers and students outside of major urban centres.
The need to enforce physical distancing post lockdown has added a new dimension of transport challenges by limiting capacity on existing public transport services.
As the Department for Transport prepares to award Rural Mobility Funds, this webinar explores how operator and local authority innovation is:
• identifying barriers and potential solutions to sustainability of demand-responsive transport
• providing area-based services that support amenities such as employment, education and healthcare
• creating agile, flexible services that can be provided cost-effectively over short timescales
• helping local authorities to understand potential public / shared transport solutions, and to give insights on planning the services that will be required
• reviewing data-led services that can fill gaps in traditional transport networks and match supply and demand, including shift patterns or flexible working hours
• avoiding the necessity to use private cars where possible
