On behalf of the Department for Transport, Rachel Aldred, PCT Lead, Policy and Practice, supported by Megan Sharkey, will take attendees through use of the Propensity to Cycle Tool, including using the web interface and using the data downloads in both Excel and GIS software (QGIS).

Pre-requisites

We will assume that attendees have some basic Excel knowledge, and have looked at pct.bike at least briefly.

You can find out more about the PCT here

Venue

Venue: Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), starting at 10.00 and finishing at 16.00. There will be a 1 hour break between 13.00 to 14.00 for delegates to eat lunch locally.

Computers

There is capacity for 18 trainees but only 9 PCs, so we will need some attendees to bring laptops (or share PCs). Please let us know if you can bring a laptop.

You will need to install QGIS on these - instructions will be provided on registration. The software is free but if you need permission to install software on your laptop you will need to secure same from your IT department in advance.

Download the QGIS software here

How to book

The session is free for local authority delegates, and will cover using the area-based and flow-based cycling potential data, and the additional functionality provided for both by the data downloads.

There may be places available for private sector attendees at a cost of £175 plus VAT. Please email Daniel Simpson for details
