Two Welsh local authorities have announced they do not plan to increase the speed limit back to 30mph on any roads, that are currently at the default speed limit of 20mph, after seeking the views of residents.

The default speed limit on restricted roads in Wales was reduced to 20mph in September 2023. Then, last year, the Welsh Government published ‘exception’ guidance and told councils to request resident feedback on 20mph limits.
