Reform picks leaders of its newly controlled councils, as approach on transport begins to shape up

Transport and net zero polices are set to come under scrutiny at several councils across England in the wake of the local elections on 1 May.

Reform UK made huge gains, taking control of 10 councils from the Conservatives as well as becoming the largest party in four other authorities with No Overall Control (NOC).

The party took control in Derbyshire, Kent, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire, Doncaster, North Northamptonshire, West Northamptonshire and Durham.
