The Office of Rail and Road has welcomed news that the European Commission is launching an investigation into the proposed merger of Siemens’ and Alstom’s rail businesses (LTT 29 Sep17). The ORR said it was concerned that the merger would reduce competition in the market for signalling and rolling stock.
