TRL's Dr Alan Stevens re-elected as ITS (UK) chair

ITS United Kingdom, the Intelligent Transport Systems association, has re-elected Dr Alan Stevens of TRL as its chairman for a second term. 

Dr Stevens is chief scientist and research director, transportation, at TRL. He has a particular interest in user interactions with technology. He has been involved in ITS (UK) since its origins in 1992, including terms as technical director and vice chairman. 

He said: “I want to use my second year to further increase the relevance of the organisation during the many exciting changes that are going on around connectivity and automation, and also further strengthen our support for and interaction with young ITS professionals.”

  • Ian Patey of Mouchel was re-elected as vice chairman.

At its 2016 AGM, hosted by Digital Greenwich in London, the ITS (UK) council decided to create a sixth director position to head up the work of making sure that ITS (UK) stays relevant to new, young entrants to the ITS sector. This role will be filled during the summer.

ITS (UK) is a not-for-profit public/private sector thats work to bring the benefits that ITS can offer in terms of economic efficiency, transport safety and environmental benefits. It is also committed to expanding the ITS market.

The membership, around 150 UK organisations, comprises government departments, local authorities, consultants, contractors, manufacturing and service companies, and academic and research institutions.
