The East West Rail Consortium (EWC) has responded with alarm to rumours that completion of the cross-country project could be delayed by up to seven years.
All rail enhancement schemes in the current control period (CP5) are being reviewed by Network Rail’s new chairman Sir Peter Hendy because of concerns about Network Rail’s under performance and over expenditure.
